The Story of Our Magnetic White Board

The Story of Our Magnetic Whiteboard

Design is often about solving problems — not just for our clients, but for ourselves too.

In our design studio, we’ve always made whiteboards for offices and projects whenever a client requested one. But soon, a small curiosity began to grow among us:

Could a whiteboard also act as a magnetic board?

As designers, we always have papers lying around — drawings, notes, printouts with important details. Sure, we had pin boards, but they weren’t perfect. Pins left holes in the papers, and the boards didn’t always look neat in modern workspaces.

We wanted something better. A cleaner way to display and organize without damaging the documents. We looked around for ready-made solutions, but couldn’t find any. So, we decided to experiment.

The idea was simple: place a metal sheet underneath a laminated whiteboard surface. The result? A whiteboard that not only worked for writing but also held magnets. And just like that, our magnetic whiteboard was born.

What started as a trial in our office quickly turned into a game-changer. We had a working prototype that solved our own problem — and became a sample to show clients.

From experiment to Project Highlight

One of the first integrations was in a Mishisa Cosmetics. Our client was thinking of a space to post updates, reviews, and announcements. Instead of leaving the wall bare, we integrated their requirements into the design itself. The result? A magnetic whiteboard wall — seamlessly blended into the interiors, exclusive to their store.

This wasn’t just about aesthetics. Now, it functions as:

  • A notice board for store updates
  • A pin board for customer reviews and notes (thanks to magnets, no tape or nails needed)
  • A writing board for announcements or reminders
  • An interaction zone where customers can engage directly with the brand

All in one simple, seamless solution that blends into the design.

What started as a small experiment of ours became a highlight of the store. This wall is not only functional but also interactive, helping the store build stronger connections with its customers.

For us, this journey is a reminder that innovation often begins with curiosity. By looking at everyday challenges differently, we can create solutions that are simple, smart, and impactful.

At Vivid Interiors, we don’t just design spaces — we design solutions. Sometimes, even a wall can become an opportunity for innovation.
